Biographies
Dr. Jen grew up on a family farm in NJ. She attended NC University for undergrad and continued on to become a 2008 graduate of their veterinary school. She started Freedom Run Equine initially in NC and practiced on her own until moving to AZ with her husband in 2010. She worked for a local AZ practice for one year before teaming up with Dr Brooks to reimagine Freedom Run Equine in AZ.
Dr Jen has been an avid hunter jumper competitor her entire life and remains very active to this day. She breeds, breaks and shows her own warmblood jumping horses. She is an active board member of the USHJA Zone 8 committee and she is the current acting manager of Tucson Fall Horse Shows as well as a local hunter jumper schooling show circuit.
Dr Jen spends all of her free time hanging out with her kids either at the baseball field or riding their horses.
Biographies
Lauren grew up on the back of a horse and never looked back. From competing on the A Circuit as a junior to caring for retired and special-needs horses at her family’s home, horses have always been at the heart of her life.
While in high school, Lauren worked as a ranch hand, gaining hands-on experience with the daily care and management of horses. She went on to graduate from the University of Arizona in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness and a minor in Animal Science.
In 2019, Lauren took over Desert East Equestrian, a hunter/jumper barn on Tucson’s east side, where she managed a 20-horse show barn and oversaw training, horse care, and day-to-day operations. In 2022, she stepped back from training to start a family and joined Freedom Run Equine as the office manager.
Lauren continues to ride and compete on the hunter/jumper circuit, giving her a firsthand understanding of the importance of keeping our equine partners healthy, happy, and performing at their best.
With years of equine experience, business management, and a genuine passion for horses, Lauren brings a unique perspective to Freedom Run Equine. When you call the practice, you can be confident that you’re speaking with someone who understands just how much our horses mean to us — and the trust we place in their care.
