Dr. Jen Baltrus grew up on a small horse farm in NJ with hunter/jumper show horses. She received her bachelor's degree from North Carolina State University and is a 2008 graduate of the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduation Dr. Baltrus started her own mobile ambulatory service and practiced in Raleigh, NC for just under three years before moving to Tucson in 2011. During her first year in Tucson Dr. Baltrus worked as an associated for a local practice before joining forces with Dr. Sara Brooks to start Freedom Run Equine in 2012.
Dr. Baltrus has shown on the hunter/jumper show circuit since she was a small child and she continues to stay active training, showing and selling hunter/jumper horses. She is an active member on the board of the Tucson Hunter Jumper Association. Her veterinary interests are in sport horse medicine, particularly maximizing performance through whole body soundness, shoeing, nutrition and exercise.
Dr. Baltrus lives on the east side of Tucson with her husband, Dave, and their daughter, Hayden. They house an exceptionally large and diverse family of four-legged friends including dogs, horses, ferrets and goats!
